In a historical perspective, the form of currency has undergone a continuous change to bear relevance to the context of the day and age. The early beginnings of currency began with the barter system. As society slowly progressed, the barter system was superseded in favor of an improved, evolving monetary exchange system – ingots, coins and finally paper.
The times are once again changing and this is forcing yet another shift, perhaps the biggest yet, in the context of currency. If the previous economies were about money, the future is about Knowledge. The future points to a Knowledge Economy and the key to success will be the ability of corporations to use and leverage Knowledge in order to grow and create wealth.
The future is upon us. Now. And Knowledge is the new currency.
